Nix promises to give us reproducible packages. But why would we even want that?
NixOS, in turn, is a Linux distribution with a very strange proposition: do everything differently, and it’ll somehow be better.
The first question that comes to mind is: why would anyone do this to themselves? The second, though… why do all the other options suddenly stop making sense afterward?
We’ll go from a short introduction to what these tools actually are, through the beautifully simple developer environments enabled by Nix, all the way to the unique possibilities that come with using NixOS as your distribution.
Prelegent
